Qualicare Family Homecare

Qualicare is a home care franchise founded in Ontario in 2001 by Wayne and Andrea Nathanson, which began franchising in 2011. It is part of Clear Summit Group, a Toronto-based franchisor whose brands also include Tutor Doctor and College Pro. Head office is on Bathurst Street in Toronto.

The service range spans non-medical support, medical and skilled nursing care, and concierge services, organised around case management. The franchisor calls this its 360 degree approach, coordinating with physicians, hospitals and community organisations. Listed services include companionship, personal care, nursing support, medication management, patient advocacy and rehabilitation support.

There are approximately 40 franchises in Canada, with further locations in the United States.

No medical background is required of franchisees; the system is designed for owners from both medical and non-medical backgrounds, and the franchisor provides support on business setup, licensing, marketing and operations. Territories are exclusive, and the company states that 70 percent of existing franchisees own more than one territory. Training is 35 hours of classroom work plus on-the-job training and several months of one-to-one coaching. The royalty is 5 percent of gross sales plus 1 percent advertising and a monthly technology fee. Qualified veterans receive a franchise fee discount.
