Kumon learning centers offer students individualized support in math and reading. It is not a one-on-one tutoring program where most students come for a "quick-fix" solution to a short-term academic problem. Instead, our success is built on a proven concept of helping students from age 3 through high school to actively build self-learning skills. Students will work at their own pace, moving through individualized worksheets on a daily basis. As a learning center owner, you'll be there to help assess their starting point, answer their questions, and guide their ongoing progress by helping them if they struggle grasping a particular worksheet concept. You and your assistants will grade their worksheets and ensure they are progressing in their learning. Each student's daily assignments take about 30 minutes per subject to complete. Two days a week they complete assignments at your Kumon center, and the other five are done at home. Your primary role as an instructor is to guide, assess, and encourage each student to help maximize his or her success. The Kumon Program also requires a special commitment on your part, as you should establish an ongoing dialogue with parents to help them stay on top of their child's progress, goals, and motivation.
